I was keen to read Shari Low’s latest – One More Day of Us having read and enjoyed so many of her books before.

My Review of One More Day Of Us
In her novel, “One More Day of Us,” Shari Low seamlessly weaves together a story that unfolds across different decades, locations, and the pursuit of long-lost dreams. This novel makes you wonder: would you ditch your dreams for love? And, most importantly, what happens if you do?
The story starts in 1990, during a hot summer in Hong Kong. Moira Chiles, a 23-year-old singer from Scotland, is living the dream. With friends and fellow performers Carina Lloyd and Lisa Dixon, she’s playing to packed hotel bars, enjoying her youth, music, and all the possibilities. It was a great time—fun, loyal friends—but one decision at the end shaped the next 30 years.
Moira’s back in Glasgow in 2025, all retired after years of singing in pubs and on cruise ships. Her fancy career’s simpler now. When she gets the chance to go back to Hong Kong, she does—to revisit the past, and maybe find a part of herself she lost.
The story recounts a heartwarming but bittersweet reunion of old friends in the city of their memories. This isn’t just a sentimental journey. Low masterfully traces the emotional resonance of past choices, demonstrating how decisions made in our twenties have far-reaching consequences.
Despite the challenges of life portrayed, Low’s writing is infused with warmth, hope, and a hard-earned wisdom that feels authentic and soothing.
The 90s Hong Kong and modern Glasgow feel totally different. Yet, the central theme persists: the intricate nature of friendship, the pain of missed opportunities, and the potential for redemption.
“One More Day of Us” explores the “what ifs” of the past and the potential of the future for anyone who has ever questioned them. We’re reminded that it’s never too late to rebuild relationships, offer forgiveness, and pursue forgotten aspirations.
