Light Is The New Black

In a post earlier this month, I mentioned Light Is The New Black as being the most impactful book for me in 2018. When I came across excerpts from it on Instagram, I thought it was a new book. The more I read, the more I wanted to own it. It’s only when I got it did I realize that it isn’t a new book at all – it was published in 2015. But somehow, I was meant to come into my life and it did! Book Description of Light is The New Black Light Is The New Black is a

Did You Outdo Yourself ? #FridayReflections

Did you outdo yourself in 2018? I’m referring to the Outdo Yourself Reading Challenge that I’ve been hosting for the last few years. Did You Outdo Yourself In 2018? I pledged to read 150 books this year, but for a change have fallen seriously short of my goal. I’m only up to to 74 so far and can read only about 2-3 books more before the year is over. But I’m not beating myself up over this. It’s been another crazy year for me. So much loss and change. So many new feelings and emotions. There were many days I

I’m Making Room #FridayReflections

I’m making room first appeared over at Sonia Rumzi’s blog. I’m Making Room When we were renovating our apartment in Mumbai, we had the freedom to play around with the space in the way we wanted. We received suggestions to expand our sitting room in to a much bigger space. The idea was that we could then accommodate a lot more people when we entertained. However, the fact is that we don’t entertain much – never a large group of people any way, so we saw no use for a larger sitting room. What did we do with the space

A World Without Books? #FridayReflections

If I was ever asked to imagine a world without books, I’d say that I cannot. Absolutely impossible to do this in fact! A World Without Books? Books have always been a part of my life. The love affair started before I could read – when my Mum would read stories to me. Apparently, I would learn the whole story by heart and then pretend I was reading. My Mum fooled an uncle of mine in to believing that I could read at age two, because I would turn the page at exactly the right place!! Children are made readers

Reading To My Heart’s Content #FridayReflections

Regular readers of this blog know that I’m a great lover of books and read quite a few books every year. This year too, I’ve been reading to my heart’s content despite everything else going on in my life. I reached my goal of reading a 100 books this year a few months ago. Reading To My Heart’s Content I laughed when I read this quote, because it’s so true. “Read to your heart’s content. Though if you are a reader, the heart is never content.” ― Jenny Hubbard, Paper Covers Rock Just yesterday I was chatting with my blogger

Wild Ideas: Creativity from the Inside Out #FridayReflections

Today’s prompt for #FridayReflections calls for taking a word out of a book you are currently reading and using it to write a post. However, I’m reading an ARC of Wild Ideas and it’s hard for me to find page 25 as the prompt suggests. I decided instead to tell you about the book and recommend it to you. Wild Ideas: Creativity from the Inside Out   Wild Ideas takes you on an intimate journey through the seven stages of the creative process. All along the way, counselor, artist, and writer Cathy Wild interweaves her own deeply personal story as
